From the 2018/19 Presentation evening programme:

With an influx of several new Under 12 players joining the Club in the past couple of years, we went into the 2018/19 season with two teams playing in the Leicestershire Foxes League, the Rockets and Royals, in an effort to maximise game time for all the boys.

Based on scorelines and league tables alone, there’s no denying that it has been a tough season. However, the FA’s key learning targets for Under 12s football are being part of a team and game time. With this in mind, the season has been a success and we have achieved what we set out to do. All the boys should be proud that they have stuck at it to the end of the season. They have shown determination and resilience which will stand them in good stead for the future. A number of matches stick in the memory when the boys’ heads could easily have dropped, but instead they showed togetherness and teamwork to pull off some amazing fight backs!

It’s been a big year for the boys, not least making the transition up to secondary school. Next year the boys make another big change, moving up to the 11-a-side format. Regardless of results, this year will help them on their footballing journey.

Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported throughout the season – refereeing, running the line, doing the Respect barrier and corner flags, collecting match fees, washing the kit and ferrying boys around Leicestershire – it is much appreciated and makes life that little bit easier for the coach!
